The weather in Argentina continues to be hit and miss. There has been enough rainfall for planting and emergence, but not enough to recharge the soil moisture which remains below what it should be for this time of the year. The forecast is calling for light showers this week with improved chances of rainfall in the 6-10 day period.
Soybeans in Argentina were 7.9% planted as of late last week which represents an advance of 5% for the week. In the core production area, the soybeans are approximately 10% planted. The emergence of the first planted soybeans is reported to be good.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange is estimating the 2024/25 soybean acreage at 18.6 million hectares with a production of 50.8 million tons. This would equate to a yield of 2,731 kg/ha or 40.6 bu/ac, which seems exceedingly low to start the season.
