The 2025/26 Brazil corn estimate was left unchanged this week at 138.0 million tons with a neutral to lower bias.

Rainfall over the weekend in Brazil favored northern and west central regions with heaviest amounts in Mato Grosso, Tocantins, northern Goias, western Bahia, and northern Minas Gerais. Hot and dry weather prevailed over the weekend in Rio Grande do Sul. Rainfall should be widespread across Brazil this week with heaviest amounts in southern Brazil.

Reports in Brazil indicate that the 2025/26 safrinha corn acreage in Brazil may end up below expectations. In areas where the soybean planting was delayed by dry weather, farmers are looking for alternatives to corn for a second crop. Grain sorghum is probably the most attractive alternative.

Parana - The first corn crop in Parana is 52% in vegetative development, 36% pollinating, 12% filling ears and rated 0% poor, 6% average, and 94% good.
