Conab Slightly Lowers Soy and Corn Estimates in March Report

In their March Crop Report issued last week, Conab estimated the 2025/26 Brazil soybean production at 177.84 million tons, a reduction of 140,000 tons from their February report. For corn, they are estimating the 2025/26 Brazilian crop at 138.27 million tons, a reduction of 170,000 tons from the prior month.

The 2025/26 Brazil soybean acreage is unchanged at 48.43 million hectares (119.6 million acres). This represents an increase of 2.3% compared to last year. The nationwide soybean yield is 3,672 kg/ha (54.7 bu/ac). Production of 177.84 million tons represents an increase of 6.4 million tons compared to 2024/25 or 3.7%.

For the three corn crops in Brazil, the production of the first corn crop was increased, the safrinha corn production was lowered, and the third corn crop is unchanged. The first corn crop is estimated at 27.35 million tons, an increase of 650,000 tons. The corn yield is estimated at 6,738 kg/ha (107.1 bu/ac), an increase of 8.1 bu/ac compared to last month.

Safrinha corn production is estimated at 108.43 million tons, a decline of 830,000 tons compared to last month. Safrinha acreage is 17.76 million hectares (43.8 million acres), which is down 130,000 hectares from February and down 330,000 hectares since last October (815,000 acres). Safrinha corn yields are estimated at 6,105 kg/ha (97 bu/ac), unchanged from last month.

Brazil's third corn crop is estimated at 2.48 million tons, unchanged from last month. Production of 138,27 million tons of corn in 2025/26 represents a decrease of 2.8 million tons or 2% compared to 2024/25.

Safrinha corn represents 78.4% of Brazil's total corn production with the first corn crop representing 19.7% and the third crop 1.7%.
