Author: Michael Cordonnier/Soybean & Corn Advisor, Inc.
The Argentina government announced last week that export taxes on agricultural products will be gradually reduced monthly starting in January of 2027. Currently, the export tax on soybeans is 24% and that will be reduced to 21% by the end of 2027 and 15% by the end of 2028. Soybean export taxes will be reduced 0.25% monthly in 2027 and 0.5% monthly in 2028.
Corn export taxes are currently 8.5% and they will be reduced to 7.5% by the end of 2027 and 5.5% by the end of 2028. Corn export taxes will decline 0.25% quarterly in 2027 and 0.5% quarterly in 2028.
President Javier Milei maintains that the goal is to reduce export taxes to zero. Argentina's grain exporters and crushing chamber CIARA-CEC said that this is the best path to higher production and exports.
