Conab Increases Brazil Corn Estimate 1.2 mt to 142.9 Million

In their August Crop Report, Conab increased the 2025/26 Brazilian corn estimate 1.2 million tons to 142.9 million and they lowered their soybean estimate slightly to 180.46 million.

A total corn production of 142.95 million tons represents an increase of 1.8 million tons or 1.3% compared to 2024/25. Brazil's 2025/26 total corn acreage increased 3.5% compared to last year.

The corn estimate increased due to a larger safrinha corn crop. The safrinha corn acreage is estimated at 17.81 million hectares (43.9 million acres), which is up 2.2% compared to last year. The average safrinha corn yield is 6,231 kg/ha (99.0 bu/ac) which is up 1.3 bu/ac from July. The safrinha corn production is now 111.03 million tons, which is up 1.6 million from July.

Brazil's first corn crop production was reduced slightly to 29.48 million tons, and the third corn crop was reduced slightly to 2.43 million tons. The safrinha corn represents 77.6% of Brazil's total corn production with the first crop at 20.6% and the third crop at 1.6%.

Brazil's 2025/26 soybean production at 180.46 million tons represents an increase of 8.9 million tons or 5.2% compared to last year. The 2025/26 soybean acreage is 48.61 million hectares (120.0 million acres), which is up 2.7% compared to last year. The soybean acreage was lowered 30,000 hectares from last month and the yield was unchanged at 3,712 k/ha (55.3 bu/ac).
